Train tickets for students. Freebies for students: what discounts and benefits are available to students

The student's very small stipend includes ways to save costs in the form of discounts on certain services.

Not all students can receive them., but only those that meet the following criteria:

  1. They receive education in a national educational institution. If the university is a branch of a foreign university or college, then the student will not receive rights to benefits.
  2. Their form of education - full-time. Part-time students receive less discounts, other benefits are provided for them.

Full-time students training can enjoy these benefits:

A second education can only be obtained on a commercial basis; no one is given the opportunity to study a second time at state funds.

Basic

Perhaps the most significant advantage for students is the possibility of cheaper travel on almost all types of transport: underground, ground and even air.

  1. There are benefits for urban transport (metro, buses, trams, trolleybuses).

    There are no benefits of this kind provided at the state level, but many territorial entities develop them independently.

    Discount applies when purchasing a pass(50% of the cost) or when using a social card.

  2. A social card is a convenient way to pay for travel for students.

    After replenishing it, you can pay not only for travel, but also for purchases in the store.

    Some of them have special discounts for holders of this card.

  3. Thus, students have discounts on intercity transport (trains and trains). Payment for travel on this type of transport – in the amount of half its cost.

    Discount train tickets for students can only be purchased for reserved seat seats; this option is not provided for compartments.

    The type of train does not matter - it is can be either a passenger or a regular train.

  4. Domestic air travel. There is also a fifty percent discount on air tickets for students, but only on planes of certain companies (namely those with which the state has a contract to provide these benefits).

    Tickets can be purchased for middle class, while the cost of luggage is not paid (up to a certain weight).

Most representatives in this area are private firms, so they have the right not to change the set price.

In these cases, having a student card will not affect the cost of the flight in any way.

The validity period of all discounts is slightly longer than for schoolchildren (this is due to the fact that the session period is taken into account) - it lasts from the beginning of the school year (September 1) until the end of June.

To receive a ticket on preferential terms, a student must present documents confirming his status.

This is a student card, an identity card (most often a passport) and a certificate from the place of study (it is issued to students every academic year).

You also need to have your student ID with you during the trip itself.– at any stop, inspectors may require you to present documents.

If they are absent, the passenger may be removed from the vehicle and even fined. Therefore, you won’t be able to buy a ticket at a discount using your documents and give it to someone else.

Additional

In addition to the above cases, benefits are provided to students belonging to special social groups:

However, many universities make concessions and provide students with the opportunity to apply for subsidies - once a year a recalculation is carried out, and part of the money previously paid for accommodation and utilities is returned.

For part-time students

Part-time students are not provided with the same discounts on transportation or attendance at cultural events as their full-time counterparts.

However, labor legislation stipulates certain advantages for them:

  1. Since the vast majority of these students work, their employers are obliged to provide them with additional paid leave during the session or defense of their diploma (while maintaining the average monthly salary).
  2. Once a year, the student’s travel to the place of study and back is paid by the enterprise.
  3. Before the session or while writing the thesis, the correspondence student is given a shortened work week or even one day off each week. In this case, shortened days are paid not in full, but at 50% of the average salary (but not below the subsistence level).

These benefits are available only to those students who study at state universities, do not have passes or “tails,” and also receive a first diploma at a certain educational level (bachelor, specialist, master).

Also part-time students have the right to use materials from the university’s information and library collections for their education— this opportunity is available to absolutely all students, regardless of their form of study.

Providing benefits is aimed at social protection of students, partial compensation of their expenses, for which the scholarship is simply not enough.

They can only be used by students themselves., and they must confirm their right to benefits with relevant documents.

Transferring student tickets to third parties is prohibited; this will result in a fine several times higher than the cost of travel.

Official statistics indicate that up to 40% of compatriots use the services of local railway transport. At the federal and regional levels, there is a system for claiming benefits for travel on commuter trains. Based on the region, the size and conditions for providing a discount on a trip may vary.

Specifics of preferential travel

Federal legislation provides for the provision of benefits when traveling on local trains. At the territorial level, the list of beneficiaries can be expanded. This scheme allows you to get a discount when paying for a ticket at one of the points of sale:

  • In a self-service device;
  • At the station ticket office;
  • At the traveling inspector upon presentation of supporting paper.

A ticket according to the “there” scheme is valid for exactly one day + 1 hour of a working day. When purchasing a round-trip ticket, the validity of the travel document is extended by another day. Holidays are not taken into account. You can purchase a ticket to travel on a local train 10 days before departure.

Benefit confirmation

Persons included in the category of federal beneficiaries can obtain the right to non-tariffed travel. These include:

  • Disabled people and WWII soldiers;
  • Population of besieged Leningrad;
  • Heroes of the USSR and logistics providers;
  • Prisoners of fascist camps;
  • Liquidators of the Chernobyl accident.

To claim the right to non-tariffed travel, it is enough to present a certificate of a WWII participant or a certificate of the Chernobyl disaster liquidator. Upon presentation of a supporting document to the Pension Fund office, no later than 10 days, a certificate will be issued for obtaining preferential travel.

To obtain a certificate, you can use the State Services portal or visit the territorial office of the Pension Fund and write a corresponding application.

Benefits at the federal level

To obtain the right to discounted travel, it is enough to make sure that the applicant is included in the list of regional or federal beneficiaries.

When applying for a free travel document, it is enough to present a certificate received from the Pension Fund.

Right to free travel

Persons with disabilities are entitled to free travel. These should include:

  • Disabled people of the 3rd group, disabled children and their accompanying persons;
  • Disabled war veterans and disabled people – former prisoners of war;
  • Relatives of persons killed during hostilities.

If the applicant has disabilities, not only the right to free travel is provided, but also to receive a full package of social assistance. There are two benefit schemes:

  • Possibility of obtaining free travel;
  • Replacement of benefits with monetary compensation.

If a minor has a disability, it is enough to present a certificate when purchasing a free ticket. And to claim a free ticket for an adult - a certificate of disability.

Free travel for military personnel

Military personnel and members of their families can use the right to non-tariff travel upon presentation of the appropriate identification. This allows you to issue a travel document for the following purposes:

  • Business trip (to a new place of duty);
  • Leave for the purpose of rehabilitation in an institution of the Ministry of Defense;
  • Dismissal from service and relocation to permanent residence.

Cadets of military academies and soldiers called up for military service can travel to the place of additional leave free of charge. A free ticket to the main vacation spot is provided for contract soldiers of the Siberian and Ural Military Districts and areas equated to the regions of the Far North. These categories of citizens also have the right to free travel in the opposite direction.

Based on the conclusion of the medical commission, the serviceman may be recommended to travel with an accompanying person. He also has the right to a non-tariffed trip.

Other categories of citizens entitled to non-tariffed travel

The following categories of citizens can additionally count on non-tariff travel on local trains:

  • Deputies of the State Duma and members of the Federation Council;
  • Labor veterans and people who lived in besieged Leningrad;
  • Logistics officers and railway infrastructure specialists;
  • Employees of the line prosecutor's office and private security specialists in transport.

To certify the right to non-tariffed travel, you must present a document. A traveling cashier or a railway ticket office employee will issue a ticket for non-tariffed travel on a local train.

Discounts for pensioners, schoolchildren and students

At the regional level, a 50% discount on travel on territorial trains is provided for pensioners. To claim preferential travel, it is enough to present a pension certificate (for residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg - a special transport card).

Pensioners who do not enjoy travel benefits have the right to contact the territorial office of the Pension Fund and request monetary compensation.

Schoolchildren, students of secondary specialized and higher educational institutions from September to June can receive a 50% discount on travel on territorial trains upon presentation of a certificate or student card. If you are eligible for a discount, you can issue a one-time ticket or purchase a discounted subscription for several trips.

In 2018, no changes are planned regarding preferential travel for certain categories of citizens.

Student life is not only the most wonderful time, but also profitable. What benefits does a student card not provide? Let's get to know them better.

Travel benefits

The main expense item that a student, especially a nonresident student, has to spend on is transportation. And a non-resident student, when studying at an institute located far from his place of residence, spends quite a bit on travel.

Therefore, a student card in this case is the first assistant in saving money. And you can save:

  • On commuter trains

In this case, the student is offered to purchase a travel pass with a 50% discount, of course, upon presentation of a student card. This subscription will only be valid during school, i.e. from the beginning of the school year until the end of the summer session. Both students of higher education institutions and college students will be able to use the right to purchase a discounted subscription.

  • When traveling on public transport

This includes all types of urban ground transport. Benefits in this case are provided only at the regional level. If regional authorities enter into an agreement with transport carriers to provide discounted travel to students, then the discount can be taken advantage of. Otherwise, you will have to pay the full fare.

If there is a benefit, it can be expressed in the form of purchasing a discounted travel ticket directly at the educational institution.

Unfortunately, there are no benefits for travel on long-distance trains, i.e. when a student travels outside the subject of the Russian Federation in which he resides.

What other benefits does a student card provide?

  1. Tax benefits. This means a refund of 13% of the tuition fee. At the same time, both the student himself, if he is employed, and his parents can apply for a refund.
  2. Exemption from military service. During the entire period of study, the student is exempt from military service.
  3. Visiting entertainment and cultural institutions. A student card allows a student to visit many cultural and entertainment venues at a discount. For example, cinemas, zoos, exhibitions, museums. Each subject of the Russian Federation independently establishes a list of institutions that provide student discounts.

Some cities even offer discounts for students when visiting certain stores. Here, a discount is usually given by a student’s social card, which can also only be obtained if you have a student card. Sports institutions also pamper students with discounts and special offers.

Universal student card

Let's devote a few words to the universal student card or international student card ISIC. This card can be issued to students under the age of 26. It gives discounts on the purchase of tickets for travel outside the student’s region of residence, which also includes air tickets. Discounts also apply to hotel stays, as well as to museums and cinemas in different countries.

With the card you can also get a discount on learning foreign languages, as well as learning to drive.

So, take care of your student ID like the apple of your eye and always carry it with you. Perhaps you will be able to go through it to some other establishments that you didn’t even know about discounts on visiting.

Many students receive their education away from their home. To see your family, you have to travel quite a distance, so discounts on train tickets are especially in demand. However, such financial support is provided only during the academic year. Let's look at how much students and schoolchildren can buy a train ticket for, as well as what is needed to receive the benefit.

Is there a discount for students on train tickets?

Students of Russian universities can buy a train ticket with a 25% discount. They can also take advantage of discounts on public rail travel in suburban services. A train ticket for full-time students and graduate students of educational institutions of higher and secondary vocational education will cost half price - 50% of the current tariff in the period from September 1 to June 15.

Students can buy a train ticket for an electric train with a 50% discount, and for long-distance trains running across Russia - with a 25% discount.

Russian Railways: discounts for students in 2018 under the bonus program

Full-time undergraduate and graduate students at universities across the country can take advantage of the loyalty program and purchase a train ticket using a simplified scheme. A discount on train tickets is provided to students for travel in compartment cars of long-distance trains of JSC FPC.

University students aged 16 to 25 can take advantage of a 25% discount. To apply for a benefit, you must send a request for assignment of the “Student” status and a scanned copy of a certificate on the letterhead of the educational institution confirming the fact of study. The request is sent through the feedback form in your personal account on the website of the Russian Railways Bonus program - there is now no need to contact the trade union committee of the university. However, the carrier has the right to verify the authenticity of the certificate.

A ticket with a student discount can only be issued in the name of the bonus card owner.

Are there discounts for schoolchildren on train tickets?

Yes, schoolchildren and students of general education institutions in Russia are provided with a 50% discount on train tickets. It is provided to children from 10 to 18 years of age for travel in general and reserved seat carriages, as well as in carriages with seats on fast and long-distance passenger trains in domestic traffic and commuter trains.

When traveling in general, reserved seat carriages and carriages with seats on branded fast and branded passenger trains, 50% of the fare on a regular fast or passenger train and the difference between the cost of travel on a branded fast or branded passenger train and the cost of travel on a regular fast or passenger train are paid. train.

The period for providing benefits to schoolchildren is from January 1 to May 31, from September 1 to December 31. In summer, the full cost of the ticket is paid.

You can buy an electronic ticket at a reduced rate on the website for a child whose age does not exceed 18 years at the time of train departure. For passengers over 18 years of age, travel documents are issued at the ticket office. Special fares are also provided for travel by organized groups of schoolchildren.

To buy a train ticket at a discount, you need a certificate from an educational institution. If it is absent, you will not be allowed to board the train. Discounts for schoolchildren on train tickets are not provided for travel on high-speed and high-speed trains numbered 701-788.

A certificate from a full-time student or pupil must be presented when boarding the train - the ticket can be purchased without it.

Students are a certain category of citizens who more often than others need government assistance. The government has developed many programs for students, including discounts on train tickets. Students will be able to take advantage of this subsidy in 2019.

Who gets the benefit?

All full-time students will be able to receive discounts on train tickets. Students who take distance classes or study part-time are not entitled to travel to Russian Railways at a discount. This decision is due to the fact that full-time students travel more often than students of other forms of education.

Part-time students come to the university only during the session: twice a year. Therefore, it is not profitable for Russian Railways to provide discounts on travel to such students.

How has the size of the benefit changed over the last 3 years?

Over the past 3 years, the size of the discount on train tickets has changed slightly. Only students studying at higher educational institutions with Russian citizenship receive discounts on railway tickets.

Students studying at branches of educational institutions from other countries do not receive such benefits. To buy a discounted train ticket, a student must provide a student card and identification document. Train tickets, along with a student ID and passport, must be with the student during the entire trip. During the trip, the conductor may be asked to present these documents.

If there are no documents, the student may be kicked off the train or commuter train. For students, discounts on tickets are half the cost. Such benefits have been in effect for several years. They can be used during the school year from the beginning of September until the end of June. Unlike the benefits for schoolchildren, for students they are valid for a month longer, since students take the exam in June.

Student discounts are not valid in July and August. This decision was made to prevent fraud. Graduate students or students who have already been expelled may take advantage of travel benefits illegally.

Students' certificates of place of study must be renewed annually. Discounts on tickets apply only to reserved seats. At the same time, benefits apply to passenger and fast trains. The cashier cannot refuse to sell a ticket to a student at a discount if a student card is provided and all the rules are met.

In some regions, students can buy a discounted ticket only for a certain time. Traveling outside of this period will cost the student the full price. In 2015, the government introduced a new benefit for students - purchasing a commuter train ticket with a fifty percent discount. It is valid for students of higher and secondary educational institutions. Such discounts do not apply to long-distance trains that travel outside the Russian Federation.

Students can use this service from September 1 to June 15. If the session continues during this period and students are forced to travel by rail, they will be forced to pay the full cost of the ticket, at the “adult” fare.

However, the discount will not apply if the student forgot to put a mark on his student ID at the beginning of the next academic year. It is required to be presented at all railway ticket offices, and if there is no mark for the current period, the cashier has the right to refuse the buyer to purchase a ticket at a reduced cost. Therefore, representatives of Russian Railways advise extending student tickets from September 1 of this year in order to take advantage of the discount on public transport.

What is the amount of benefits for students on train tickets in 2019?

The discount in 2019 will be 50% of the ticket price for the student year. The discount is valid for all full-time students. At the same time, in some regional regions the discount can be increased to 100%. Students can ride trains for free if the district administration has adopted a corresponding amendment to the legislation of the territorial entity.

In some regions, discounts may be provided both for all full-time students and for a certain category of students: students with children from low-income or large families. Such persons have priority when entering an educational institution. They will also receive an increased stipend from the Administration or the Head of the region in 2019. In some regions of the Russian Federation, the district budget will not allow students to take advantage of travel discounts in 2019.

How to get discounts for students on train tickets in 2019

To take advantage of the benefit, students are required to provide a student card at the checkout with a note indicating that they are continuing their studies at this institution in the current period. Without a stamp on the student card, the student will not be able to travel with a discount.

Additionally, to receive a discount, students will be required to bring their passport with them. In some cases, if a student card is lost or impossible to obtain, a Russian Railways ticket can be issued at a discount using the student’s record book. It must contain all tests and exams scheduled for the current semester.
