    Special programs are designed for foreign students planning to enroll in undergraduate studies. Training includes a combination of first year academic courses, academic support, adaptation and cultural inclusion. The purpose of the training is to bring the level of knowledge and English language in accordance with the requirements of the university, and to adapt the student to the education system and lifestyle.   • Each type of program includes three areas (to choose from), the emphasis during training is on the relevant disciplines:

  • Humanities and social sciences
  • Science, technology, engineering, mathematics and information technology
  • Business, finance and economics.
  • The learning process has a number of distinctive characteristics:

  • Possibility of choice. Following the educational system adopted in the United States, students have the right to choose their priority areas of science, which guarantees the development of responsibility and awareness and greater interest in learning
  • Support for students at all stages, both in academic and life matters. University specialists are ready to provide students with all the necessary assistance and advice at any time. Student services staff consists of: Student Advisors, Academic Tutors, Career Advisors, Academic Advisers
  • A small number of people in the group, and, as a result, individual attention to each student
  • Experience of American culture. During their studies, special seminars “live, learn, grow” are held, at which students receive maximum useful information about the structure of the education system, rules of conduct, culture and traditions of the USA, Illinois and the university. These classes involve students in a vibrant life and adapt them to a new country and society
  • Development of employment and career skills. Students attend special seminars and classes where they learn all the nuances of job search, employment and career advancement. These classes are of utmost importance for international students, as they allow them to understand the principles and laws in force in the country regarding starting work.
  • Students of the academic and extended program, in addition to subjects, study English. The classes are designed in such a way as to help maximize the level of the language, teach you to use competent academic language, and generally begin to communicate in English “without hesitation.” Students of all three types of programs receive maximum benefit, knowledge and go through the adaptation process painlessly.

    Studying at International Year One (Undergraduate accelerator) takes place without wasting time - after completing the course, students move on to the second year of studying the main undergraduate educational programs in the chosen specialty.

    The program is designed specifically for students with a high level of English proficiency. Participants attend adaptation workshops and a corps of academic disciplines. The course is worth 24 credits in total. Features of this type of program:

    Program for students who need support in English. Consists of adaptation classes, a body of disciplines and subjects, and English classes. In total, students earn at least 24 credits for the program.

    The university offers students a wide variety of undergraduate study programs - more than 80 areas of science are available. The training lasts 4 years; foreign students can first complete 2 or 3 semesters of special training and then move on to the second year of the main program. Each program provides ample opportunities for the student to choose a specialization and priority subjects; this is done so that students better understand what is really interesting to them and develop their talents in the right direction. Each specialty involves a set of so-called “credits” - credit units that are earned by the student in the process of study and reflect his academic performance. To move on to subsequent courses, you must earn a certain number of credits.

    In 4 courses, students receive fundamental training and a large body of knowledge in their chosen specialty; in addition, they have the opportunity to undergo professional internships in the best companies in the city, thus consolidating theoretical knowledge in practice. During classroom work, various types of activities are used:

    A special English language course is intended for those applicants who are entering the International Year One program and who need active language support. The 14-week course is conducted before the start of International Year One and contains intensive classes in all areas of linguistics:

  • Written speech
  • Listening
  • Developing learning and research skills.
  • English teachers have extensive experience and a high level of professionalism; they easily create a comfortable atmosphere in the classroom that promotes rapid learning. Small group sizes allow us to pay maximum attention to each student and provide individual advice on complex issues. During the course, students also learn academic writing, public speaking skills, and generally become accustomed to using the language in everyday life. As a result of intensive work, students' language proficiency significantly improves, and they begin studying on the International Year One program.
