Passage in social studies. We translate the USE test scores into a school grade

Each graduate is well aware that in order to successfully enter the specialty of interest, it is necessary to prepare well for the Unified State Exam 2018 and score the highest possible points. What does it mean to “pass the exam well” and how many points will be enough to compete for a budget place in a particular university? This will be discussed in this article.

We will cover the following important questions:

  • Minimum USE scores sufficient to obtain a certificate and admission.
  • Rules for converting the primary score into the resulting score in all subjects.
  • Passing points for the most demanded specialties of 2018.
    • 1 Minimum USE scores in 2018
      • 1.1 Minimum certification score
      • 1.2 Minimum test score
      • 1.3 Minimum score for admission to the budget
    • 2 Converting the primary score to the resulting
    • 3 Passing scores of the top 10 universities in Russia

    Minimum USE scores in 2018

    First of all, it is important to understand what exists:

    • the minimum score that gives the right to receive a certificate;
    • the minimum score that allows you to apply to the university;
    • the minimum score sufficient for real income to the budget in a particular specialty at a particular university in Russia.

    Naturally, these figures differ significantly.

    Minimum certification score

    The minimum attestation scores of the Unified State Examination are set for compulsory subjects - the Russian language and mathematics at the basic level, and in 2018 are:

    Having overcome this threshold, but not reaching the minimum test score, the examinee will receive a certificate, but will not be able to apply to the university.

    Minimum test score

    The test minimum is the threshold value that gives the right to enter the university. In other words, persons who have overcome the test threshold theoretically have the right to join the fight for budget places. Although, in practice, it is almost impossible to enter highly rated universities with minimal performance.

    In 2018, in all subjects, except for the Russian language and basic mathematics, the test minimum USE scores coincide with the attestation ones and are:

    Subject

    Minimum test score

    Russian language

    Mathematics (basic level)

    Mathematics (profile level)

    Social science

    Literature

    Foreign language

    Biology

    Informatics

    Geography

    The principle of calculating the success of passing the unified state exam assumes that the subject must demonstrate a high, average or sufficient level of knowledge, corresponding to grades "5", "4" and "3" in the school scale.

    In case of an unsatisfactory result, as well as when passing a score that the examinee considers insufficient for himself, graduates are given the right to retake the exam.

    Minimum score for admission to the budget

    Most universities announce the threshold score required for applicants for a budget place. This allows each applicant to realistically assess the prospects for admission and choose universities and specialties based on the points scored in the USE.

    In 2018, you can focus on the fact that last season the average passing scores in all subjects of the Unified State Examination among applicants who entered MGIMO and other highly rated universities in the capital fluctuated between the threshold value of 80-90. But, for most regional universities of the Russian Federation, 65-75 points can already be considered a competitive result.

    Converting the primary score to the resulting one

    By completing the tasks proposed in the USE ticket, the examinee gains the so-called primary scores, the maximum value of which varies depending on the subject. When evaluating the level of knowledge, such primary scores are converted into the resulting ones, which are entered in the certificate and are basic upon admission.

    With the help of an online calculator, you can compare primary and test scores in subjects of interest.

    Just like last year, in 2018, the scores scored while passing the USE affect the score of the certificate, and although the table for comparing the test score and traditional marks has not been officially adopted, you can roughly compare your scores right now using a universal calculator.

    Please note that the average passing scores for different specialties in the same university can vary significantly. This figure reflects the minimum score of applicants who entered the budget, and tends to change every year. The results of 2017 can only serve as a guideline for applicants in 2018, motivating them to achieve the highest possible results.

    There are many factors that affect the minimum passing score, including:

  • the total number of graduates who have applied and the scores indicated on their certificates;
  • the number of applicants who provided original documents;
  • the number of beneficiaries.
  • So, having seen your last name in 20th place in the list of a specialty that provides for 40 budget places, you can confidently consider yourself a student. But, even if you find yourself on this list of 45, there is no reason to be upset if among those standing in front of you there are 5-10 people who provided copies of documents, because most likely these people are tuned to another university and applied for this specialty as a fallback .

    For schoolchildren across the country, the hot time for passing state exams continues. Very soon, Russian schoolchildren will find out their results and will understand how many points they were able to score on the exam. Naturally, many are interested in the minimum required score thresholds for passing the exam. Minimum USE scores in 2018 in all subjects: table, minimum required thresholds for successful passing of the unified state exams.

    Since the end of May, the Unified State Examination in various subjects has been held in the country's schools. Schoolchildren take exams in 12 disciplines, each of which has its own required minimum threshold for passing. The next minimum, which students will be able to score for the compulsory and selective USE, gives them the right to become applicants for higher educational institutions of the country. In accordance with the data published by Rosobrnadzor, in order to enter a university in 2018, students must score the following number of points:

    Subject Minimum Points
    Russian language 42
    Mathematics (basic level) 27
    Mathematics (profile level) 27
    Social science 42
    Physics 36
    Literature 32
    Story 29
    Chemistry 36
    Foreign language 22
    Biology 36
    Informatics 40
    Geography 40

    In accordance with the specialty for which the student plans to enter, the profile discipline for him may be mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, a foreign language or another subject that is the basis of education, Ros-Register has learned. Every year, the admissions committee of higher education institutions sets a minimum threshold for a passing score.

    If a student fails to provide a certificate with this minimum, then his documents will not be subject to consideration even if he passed the Unified State Exam with higher scores in other disciplines.

    On average, for educational institutions in Russia, the minimum threshold starts from 45-60 points in accordance with the level of the university. Nevertheless, even such a number of points will not guarantee admission to a state-funded place if your goal is to enter MGIMO or another large Moscow university. Last year, there was still an opportunity to “slip through” to a state-funded place, scoring more than 82 points in a profile subject. One way or another, in regional universities, the indicators are usually much more modest - here it is possible to get a budget place by scoring from 65-70 points for the main subject.

    The most important nuance is the competition for one place in that other university, that is, the number of applicants who applied to the educational institution of your choice and their scores for the state exam.

    Naturally, the higher the competition, the higher will be the minimum threshold for points for certain specialties in a certain year. And vice versa - at times, students, frightened by the statistics of past years, do not risk applying for any specialty with high competition, and due to this, the minimum score for admission to the budget can be much lower than usual. One way or another, it is impossible to predict exactly how the situation will develop in advance.

    Also, the number of applicants who submitted the originals of their documents has a serious effect on the “budget queue”. This means that they did not consider any alternative options and plan to enter this particular university. One way or another, most graduates usually have insurance and apply to more than one institution. Thus, you should not be upset ahead of time if, with the existing 40 budget places, you find yourself in 41st place on the list.

    Minimum USE scores 2019 in all subjects: passing threshold

    On Wednesday, May 30, 2019, the Unified State Examination in Basic Mathematics was held in Russian schools. In some regions of the country, hurricanes provoked interruptions in the power supply of the PES, but the consequences of the disaster were eliminated and the Unified State Examination took place.

    Nearly 585,000 students applied for the exam, including 563,000 this year's graduates. 5,172 examination points (EPS) were equipped in the Russian regions and abroad.

    Find out what passing scores will be set for all USE subjects in 2019 and what the passing threshold will be in the most popular universities in Russia.

    Minimum exam scores 2019 in all subjects: Minimum scores for admission to a university

    The next minimum, scored for the mandatory and selective USE, gives the student the right to become an applicant for a university or institute of the Russian Federation. According to information published by Rosobrnadzor, in order to enter a higher educational institution in 2019, students will need to dial:

    • for the Russian language - at least 34 points;
    • for basic mathematics - at least 27 points;
    • for profile mathematics - at least 27 points;
    • for social studies - at least 42 points;
    • for physics - at least 36 points;
    • for literature - at least 32 points;
    • for history - at least 29 points;
    • for chemistry - at least 36 points;
    • for the all-Russian exam in English (French, German, Spanish) - at least 22 points;
    • for biology - at least 36 points;
    • for computer science - at least 40 points;
    • for geography - at least 40 points.

    Minimum exam scores 2019 in all subjects: Minimum scores for admission to the budget

    Minimum points for admission to the budget Depending on the specialty for which the graduate enters, the core subject may be mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, a foreign language or another subject that is the basis of education. Every year, the admission committee of the university sets the threshold value of this score. If a student cannot provide a certificate with a passing minimum, his documents are not considered even if he has high scores in other subjects.

    On average, for Russian universities, this threshold starts from 45-60 points, depending on the prestige of the educational institution. However, these scores are not a guarantee of income to the budget if you are aiming at MGIMO or another top university in the capital. In 2017, it was possible to “slip through” to the budget here, scoring more than 82 points in the core discipline. However, at regional universities, the numbers are usually much more modest - in this case, you can become a state student with 65-70 points in reserve for the main discipline.

    Another important point is the number of students who will apply to the university of your choice, as well as their scores for the USE. It is clear that the higher the competition, the higher will be the passing score for a certain specialty in a given year. And vice versa - sometimes schoolchildren, frightened by last year's statistical calculations, bypass a highly competitive specialty, so the threshold score for state employees can be significantly reduced. However, nothing can be predicted in advance.

    The number of children who submitted original documents has a significant impact on the “queue” for budget places. This means that they do not consider alternatives and intend to become applicants for this particular university. However, most graduates prefer to play it safe and apply to several different places. Therefore, do not rush to get upset if, with 30 budget places available, your name will be 31st on the list.

    The USE is a form of assessing the knowledge of students in the general education program. For 8 years, the unified state exam has been used as the only form of passing entrance exams. All general education courses are taken in the same way for all participants and are assessed in points from 1 to 100, except for mathematics, which is divided into basic and profile levels and is assessed on a five-point system.

    For all graduates and applicants, a minimum score is required. The minimum number of USE points is the threshold that allows you to enter a university, that is, the minimum passing score. The procedure for determining the threshold is regulated by the order of Rosobrnadzor. The methodology is approved by law and is subject to Part 14 of Art. 59 of the current Federal Law on Education of the Russian Federation, and is also regulated by the Regulations on the Supervision of the Educational Process. The goal to determine the minimum threshold of knowledge is set for the final certification of the quality of secondary education.

    How to determine?

    The lowest passing grade is determined by two values:

    • primary - the result based on the tasks performed correctly;
    • test - the translated result of testing for a particular system.

    The lowest result determines the basic level of mastery of the subject, and the grade corresponds to a satisfactory value. It allows the student to pass certification according to the current norms and requirements, as well as apply for admission to higher educational institutions.

    Rosobrnadzor did not make adjustments to the USE scoring system in 2018, so the results of the exam for 2017 are used in the current assessment. All elective subjects are graded with a maximum score of 100, except for Mathematics, which is graded up to a maximum of 5. If a student passes an exam with a score that matches the very first score, then their grade is thresholded. This result is required for admission to universities, as the minimum acceptable threshold.

    The primary value indicates the basic assimilation of knowledge and skills in the educational process. The maximum marks for each academic discipline are different. Primary values are converted into test values according to a certain algorithm. According to the assessment system, the lowest primary corresponds to the same value of the test score according to the system 100.

    What is the minimum test score?

    The lowest result is set according to test scores for the past years in all subjects. It is set equal to the value of the primary test. The minimum scores for all examination disciplines are different, but their set is mandatory for obtaining a certificate. The minimum scores of the USE 2018 in all subjects determine the lowest threshold of students' knowledge, and adjustments are made to the USE assessment system based on these values.

    If the result does not correspond to the test value for one of the compulsory subjects, then the test participant can take it again at the additional time allotted for this. If an unsatisfactory result is obtained in all compulsory subjects, a retake is carried out after a year.

    Grading order

    The maximum number of subjects is determined by the scale. For each discipline, this value is different. The maximum score determines the highest result, the minimum - the smallest, respectively. The exam program additionally includes 11 general education subjects, the delivery of which is optional.

    Of these, 2 are mandatory for passing and obtaining a certificate: mathematics and Russian. Passing points in these subjects are assessed differently: mathematics - on a 5 point system, Russian - on a 100 point system.

    Table of points for obtaining a certificate

    The minimum passing score is fixed and mandatory for each participant in the examination assessment. According to the USE 2018 scoring rule, for admission, an applicant must score 10 primary ones, corresponding to 24 test ones in the Russian language and 6 and 27, respectively, in specialized mathematics.

    Table of minimum scores for all subjects

    For admission to a university, it is necessary to obtain a satisfactory grade, the value of which is different for each subject. The table of scores for the USE in all subjects, except for mathematics, is presented in the form of a stobal system. The information is published on the official website of the examination service and is the same for the assessment of all participants in the exam.

    Each year the value changes, in accordance with the results of the previous one.

    They attend courses and hire tutors, take tests online and work on demo versions of KIMs. But in order to become a student of an institute or university, it is not enough just to pass the exam. Firstly, you should score a certain number of points, and secondly, in order to enroll in a budget form of education, you will have to demonstrate an above-average result.

    By the way, the concept of a minimum score for enrolling in a university is very flexible - the scores required for admission under a contract, or for enrolling in a budget form in a regional, local or prestigious metropolitan university for various specialties have a significant difference. Let's find out how many points you will need to get in 2018 in order not only to get a certificate, but also to get into the lists of happy state students!

    USE scores will show whether you can enter a university and

    Minimum score for graduation

    The passing minimum, which must be scored to obtain a school certificate, is set for all mandatory USE. In 2018, as before, there will be only two of them - this is the all-Russian examination in and. The Commission of Rosobrnadzor names the following figures:

    • 24 points are sufficient for credit in the Russian language;
    • 23 points must be scored in basic mathematics.

    However, these points give nothing but a certificate - it is impossible to apply to a university with such marks.

    Minimum scores for admission to a university

    The next minimum, scored for the mandatory and selective USE, gives the student the right to become an applicant for a university or institute of the Russian Federation. According to information published by Rosobrnadzor, in order to enter a higher educational institution in 2018, students will need to dial:

    • for the Russian language - at least 34 points;
    • for basic mathematics - at least 27 points;
    • for profile mathematics - at least 27 points;
    • for - at least 42 points;
    • for - at least 36 points;
    • for - at least 32 points;
    • for - at least 29 points;
    • for - at least 36 points;
    • for the all-Russian exam in (French, German, Spanish) - at least 22 points;
    • for - at least 36 points;
    • for - at least 40 points;
    • for - at least 40 points.

    The minimum passing score does not give you a guarantee of admission to the university

    Theoretically, with such points, the student enters the fight for all places - both contract and budget. However, practice shows that it is possible to become a student of the state order with such marks only in the most “seedy” institute and in a specialty that is not included in the circle of prestigious professions.

    Minimum points for admission to the budget

    It is quite difficult to name figures that would become a guarantee of budget revenues. The opportunity to become a student studying for budget money and receiving a scholarship depends on many factors. First of all, this opportunity is influenced by the score scored for the Unified State Examination in the profile subject.

    Depending on the specialty for which the graduate enters, the core subject may be mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, a foreign language or another subject that is the basis of education.

    For the sake of a budget place, you will have to seriously strain when preparing for the exam!

    It is possible that one of the applicants will take the original documents to another educational institution, freeing up a place for you. As practice shows, the queue usually shifts by 5-7 people. However, in the 2018 academic year, Rosobrnadzor recommends focusing on the following scores in subjects:

    • Biology. When entering specialties that require a certificate in biology, the average passing score is 45-78, and for universities with high competition you will need 79-100 points;
    • Russian language. The threshold score that allows you to qualify for the budget in most universities is 45-72, and for the most prestigious universities - from 73 and above;
    • Maths. The minimum that will allow you to study on a budget is 45-63 points. For highly competitive universities, the certificate scores should be equal to 64-100;
    • Foreign languages. A certificate with 55-80 points makes it possible to become a state employee of a regional university or institute. In the capital's universities, it is required to pass the subject for 81-100 points;
    • Social science. For most universities in Russia, 45-72 points will be quite enough, however, for top educational institutions, your score should be equal to 73-100;
    • Chemistry. When entering specialties requiring a certificate in chemistry, the average passing score should be 45-80, and for universities with high competition, the total score should be above 81;
    • Story. The threshold score that allows you to qualify for the budget is 45-72 in most universities, and 73-100 for the most prestigious universities;
    • Physics. A guarantee of admission to a university for a budget place will be a certificate with 45-65 points. But if you have planned for yourself a prestigious metropolitan university, you will have to earn 66 points or more on the exam.

    If in regional universities you can enter the budget with 45-70 points, then for metropolitan institutions you will have to score from 70 points for the profile USE

    Finally, here are the passing scores for the budget for the country's top universities, which were recorded in 2017. Knowing the statistics, you can focus on specific points in the certificates. Of course, this value is an average - the most prestigious specialties require even more impressive points. However, now you will understand how well it is worth preparing in order to overcome the minimum budget “threshold”. So, the average total score in the top of 2017 was.
