Holidays in public schools. Beginning of the school year in different countries

The Ministry of Education proposes to significantly change the existing education system. If now the full academic year is divided into 4 quarters, then in the future it is planned to transfer the general educational system of education to trimesters at school 2017-2018. What will such innovations bring?

Currently, students study for four terms, between which there are holidays. As a rule, spring and autumn holidays have approximately the same duration, but the winter and spring periods of rest are already significantly increasing in size. The Ministry of Education is sure that the unplanned division of periods of study and rest negatively affects the academic performance, as well as the well-being of children. In connection with such circumstances, a proposal was made to change the periods of study time and periods of rest. It is planned to transfer the entire general education system to training in equal trimesters. Such a change will allow students to be less tired and always be in a cheerful and cheerful mood.

School new trimesters

At the moment, the old system of general education that is familiar to everyone is in effect, which implies that there are 4 quarters in one specific academic year. And between the indicated quarters, the guys go on vacation. Thus, the full academic year is divided into unequal lengths of study time. Holidays for students also differ significantly from each other in planned duration.

The trimesters of the school for the 2017-2018 academic year are a planned updated education system, which implies that students will go to receive vacation time after every 5 weeks of active study.

The old and new systems for approving study time are almost the same. That is, the total number of training days is equal in both systems. The summer holidays do not change in any way, the children continue to rest during all the hot months. But here the intermediate holidays change a little, that is, the frequency of vacation periods increases, but at the same time, the time for obtaining education does not change at all.

To date, many secondary schools continue to operate under the old regime. But the Ministry of Education offers the administration of educational institutions to make a choice: continue teaching in the old mode or move to a new level of education. Of course, the school administration on its own cannot make changes to the rhythm of the life of students familiar to everyone, the transition to a new mode of education is possible only after receiving advice from the parents of the students.

In order to understand which education system is more suitable for parents, students, and children, it is necessary to determine what the expected study schedule for trimesters will be, and also how vacation time will be distributed?

What is the preliminary schedule of trimesters at school 2017-2018?

  • 1st trimester - from September 1 and inclusive to October 2; October 8th to November 17th.
  • 2nd trimester - from November 23 to December 27; January 8th to February 21st.
  • 3rd trimester - from February 27 and including to April 10; from April 16th to May 31st.

Thus, the periods of study are distributed. As you can see, between every 5 weeks of active study, students are provided with legal vacation periods of rest.

And how are the holidays at school 2017-2018 distributed by trimesters?

  • Autumn holidays last 5 days, the rest period is from October 3 to October 7, as well as from November 18 to November 22.
  • Winter holidays last 10 and 5 days, respectively, and their terms are determined from December 28 and including to January 7, and the second epat - from February 22 to February 26.
  • Spring holidays, their duration is also 5 days, the beginning of the holiday is determined on April 11, and the end on April 15.
  • Summer holidays for students begin on June 1, and the end of a long vacation is scheduled for August 31.

Many parents whose children are schoolchildren, and the students of educational institutions themselves, want to know in advance what the vacation schedule will be like in the next 2017-2018 academic year. Why? Everything is pretty simple. Adults want to understand when children will be free from school in order to calmly plan their family vacation or find ways to keep their children busy. While the students themselves are interested in when they can “take a break” from bored school days.

What determines vacation dates for schoolchildren?

Each parent is concerned that his child would be constantly at work, attend school, study in sections and develop as correctly and comprehensively as possible. Firstly, it is so useful and interesting for the student himself. Secondly, he is constantly busy, which means that unpleasant situations are excluded, which children so often get into, aimlessly wandering around all day.

Therefore, often the approaching vacation for children makes parents nervous and spend a lot of time planning the daily routine for their child. In such planning, the question becomes urgent: “How many days will the break from school last?”. Moreover, you want to know the vacation schedule in advance in order, for example, to understand when it is best to coordinate your next vacation at work and spend more time with your son or daughter.

However, the bureaucratic reality is such that the Ministry of Education and Science approves the recommended schedule almost on the eve of the first of September. In rare cases - a little earlier. For example, before summer. Therefore, the school holidays for the upcoming 2017-2018 academic year should be officially “dated” only in the near future.

At the same time, we must not forget that the Ministry of Education only recommends a list of dates for schoolchildren, taking into account the list of working and weekend days approved by the government, and the workload, and various circumstances (the same quarantine). But directly the heads of educational institutions have the right to make adjustments to suit their needs - to shift the beginning and end of the "school leave" by 1-2 weeks.

Advice! Active interaction with the parent council and the management of the educational institution will help to keep abreast of the planned dates for the holidays.

If we talk about the main reasons for changing the dates of rest for schoolchildren, then there are only two of them:

  1. The calendar itself changes every year. As a rule, the days of the week are somewhat shifted (by 1-2 days) relative to similar calendar numbers for the previous year.
  2. Constantly our government approves a new production calendar. As a result, there is a redistribution of holidays and weekends.

Thus, the annual change in the schedule is natural in order to avoid overlaps, for example.

Approximate vacation dates for 2017-2018

Now in the territory of the Russian Federation there are three main education systems:

  1. by quarters;
  2. by modules;
  3. by trimesters.

However, we note that the calendar-modular and trimester planning approaches are the same, so children will have rest in the same period.

This is only approximate data. The only exceptions are the beginning and end of training. Everything here is the same as before: on September 1, 2017 we go to school, on May 31, 2018 (lower grades earlier) we finish our studies.

What can affect the changes in the calendar?

Educational institutions with a quarter system of education

The very first - autumn holidays, which are marked by the celebration of the Day of National Unity - 04.11. This year, the holiday falls on Saturday, as a result of which the all-Russian day off was postponed to the following Monday - 11/06/2018. How exactly this transfer will be regarded by your educational institution and how to set the time for rest, it is better to check with the school management.

As for winter, the New Year holidays of 2018, as a rule, coincide with the all-Russian weekend dedicated to the celebration of the New Year and Christmas. This means that students go on vacation from about December 27 to December 30. Therefore, January 09-10, 2018 is the beginning of the third quarter, as well as the first working day for adults throughout the country.

In the spring of the 2017-2018 academic year, no national holidays are planned, and therefore changing the period for their holding in the spring of 2018 depends only on the decision of the school management. Any unforeseen circumstances can also affect - the same quarantine, during which lessons are not held. As a result, it is necessary to “catch up” in order to have time to teach all the topics of the school curriculum. Because of what, the terms of the spring “vacation” of schoolchildren can be shifted.

Important! For children aged 6-7 who go to school for the first time, an additional winter weekend is set in the last week of February.

Schools with a trimester type of education

Oddly enough, with this system of education for parents it is somewhat easier, although they themselves learned differently. The fact is that the methodology initially relies on the following scheme: the child studies for five weeks, rests for one - and this cycle repeats again and again. The same period lasts for modules with a different type of training.

The only exception is winter holidays, which last longer. After all, it is associated with the New Year holidays, approved by the production calendar. Therefore, the number of days off during the winter break from study is always greater.

What can cause delays?

The main reason why the final word in the approval of the vacation period is left to the director of the educational institution is the too large palette of territorial features of each region.

So, in a number of Siberian and northern regions, training is often canceled due to severe frosts. Another objective reason may be a severe flood or an epidemic of diseases. Therefore, it is possible to focus on the preliminary school schedule of academic and weekend days, but it should not be taken as final and approved.

  • The official website of the school is the first source of accurate specific information. Legislatively, each organization carrying out educational activities is required to post on its website an annual calendar plan of classes;
  • Electronic resource: student's diary. The information you are interested in will be posted as an announcement for parents or you can just scroll through the diary, if there are no classes, then you have found what you were looking for;
  • The class teacher always has information on the schedule of the educational process of his wards and, of course, will tell you when the holidays begin or end;
  • A phone call to the principal's office. The secretary is also aware of the schedule of the educational process and is authorized to provide you with this information.

This year, many are concerned about the question of whether September 1 is a day off or not. This is due to the fact that in 2017, the Islamic religious holiday Eid al-Adha falls on September 1. This is one of the main and most revered holidays among Muslims. It does not fall on a fixed date, each year is celebrated on a different date.

This day is always considered a holiday and a day off for adherents of religion. Therefore, this year, as always, in some regions this day is officially declared a day off.

This applies to:

  1. Bashkortostan.
  2. Tatarstan.

On this day, the population of the regions does not work. As for the holiday rulers in schools, the issue is left to the discretion of the administration of each of them. Therefore, parents of students should inquire in advance, each in their school, about whether September 1 is declared a day off in this particular school or not.

Important! This date is considered a holiday, the Day of Knowledge is celebrated, but is not a day off. Both parents of students and teachers of schools and other educational institutions work in this as usual. September 1 is a holiday for students who start a new school year.

Moreover, TASS reports that in Moscow, some schools may also decide to postpone September 1 due to Eid al-Adha. The authorities of the capital do not intervene in resolving this issue, but at the discretion of the administration of some schools, a solemn line dedicated to the beginning of the 2017-2018 academic year can only take place on Monday, September 4th.

This may apply to the following schools:

  • № 2054;
  • №2107;
  • №2115.

The thing is that these educational institutions are geographically located next to Muslim mosques. The proposal to transfer came from the parents of the students of the above mentioned educational institutions. Each school will individually decide on the date of the holiday line, which will be notified to parents one or two days before September 1.

Other schools in Moscow did not voice their intention to postpone the date of the line dedicated to the Day of Knowledge. However, it is recommended the day before to clarify with the school administration and teachers the date and time when the line will take place.

Beginning of the school year

Every year, for many centuries now, the academic year begins on September 1st. The only exceptions are those days when this number falls on Saturday or Sunday. In this case, the guys go to school on Monday, September 2 or 3.

Previously, in Russia this day celebrated the New Year, which today we celebrate on January 1. This date marked the beginning of the calendar and academic year from 325 to 1699, until the first day of the New Year was moved to January 1 by decree of Peter the Great in order not to differ from Europe. This fact determined the shortest year in the history of Russia.

Interesting! The shortest year in the history of Russia is 1699 and it lasted only 4 months from September 1 to December 31.

But, it was decided not to interrupt the children's studies on this occasion and it was extended until May, and the summer months were made into long holidays so that the children could rest before the new school year, recuperate and improve their health.

Obviously, for hundreds of years, September 1 is the day when the guys go to school. Over the past 10 years, there have been exceptions several times, as September 1 fell on Saturday and Sunday.

The decision on when to dismiss schoolchildren on vacation in Russia is made by the educational institution itself. In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education, the duration of vacations, their start and end dates are determined by the school. Only the total duration of study and vacation periods is regulated, allowing children to cope with the curriculum without "overloads":

  • the academic year for first-graders should last at least 33 weeks, for students of other classes - at least 34;

  • the period of summer rest for children is at least 8 weeks;

  • short vacations within the school year must total at least 30 days, and first grade students are allowed an extra week.

Despite the given freedom of choice, most Russian educational institutions adhere to the traditional scheme that developed back in Soviet times when approving the vacation schedule: four quarters, a week of rest in November, two for the New Year holidays, another week at the end of March. Regional departments of education usually send out recommended vacation dates in advance of the start of the school year, but the final decision remains with the school administration.

Moscow is an exception. Here, vacation dates are the same and are set by the Metropolitan Department of Education for two options for the study schedule - traditional (quarter) and trimester (modular), when the year is divided into equal intervals and five weeks are followed by one vacation.

In the regions, the dates may vary slightly, but the vast majority of schools, gymnasiums and lyceums will have the same curriculum.

School year start and end dates

2017-2018 academic year traditionally starts September 1, on the Day of Knowledge. This year, the first week of school will be very short - the first day of autumn falls on the calendar on Friday, so that students will have the opportunity to smoothly move from rest to study.

The end date of the school year may be slightly shifted due to the peculiarities of the academic schedule. Primary grades will be the first to leave for the summer holidays - their school year will end May 22-24. Middle and high school students will study for a few days longer, for them the last day of school will be May 25-26. In Moscow schools that have chosen a modular mode of study, high school students will sit at their desks the longest - until the 31st.

9th and 11th grade students taking final exams will be exempted from study hassle in accordance with their exam schedule. The Unified State Examination and the OGE will begin in the last week of May and will run until the end of June.

graduation parties most will pass during the period from 23 to 25 May(they are not recommended to be held on June 22, on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow), but if a student takes any exams on reserve days, his exam marathon can continue after receiving a certificate.

Fall break dates 2017

According to a long tradition, the autumn holidays in schools are held the first week of November. In Soviet times, they were "combined" with the celebration of the anniversary of the October Revolution, but now they fall on National Unity Day, celebrated on November 4th. In 2017, the holiday will be a Saturday, and due to the postponement of the holiday to Monday, November 6, adults will have a three-day mini-vacation. For schoolchildren, these days, of course, will also be "time off" - an additional day of rest will be "added" to the usual weekly duration of the November holidays.

In most Russian schools, the autumn holidays - 2017 will be held according to the following schedule:

  • duration - 8-9 days;

  • official start– October 30 (Monday) or the previous Sunday;

  • last day of rest– October 6 (Monday) or October 7 (Tuesday).

Winter holidays schedule at school in 2017-2018 academic year

The middle of the school year will traditionally be marked by a two-week period of winter rest timed to coincide with the celebration of the New Year and Christmas. This is perhaps the most significant vacation of the school year. If only because the January holiday decade in Russia is the only time when both adults and children are simultaneously freed from daily troubles for a long time and can plan quite long trips with the whole family. Therefore, it is especially important to find out the exact timing of the winter holidays in schools.

By tradition, schoolchildren are allowed to rest 3-4 days before the New Year, and they go “to the machine” almost simultaneously with adults - either on the same day or the next, and the period of the all-Russian weekend completely “fits” into children's holidays.

In the winter of 2017-2018, the “typical” school vacation schedule will be as follows:

  • duration - 14 days;

  • first day of rest– December 28 (Thursday);

  • last day of vacation– January 10 (Wednesday).

Additional holidays for first grade students - 2018

The third quarter is the longest and usually the most difficult for students. To "unload" the smallest, in February, first-grade students are given an extra week of rest. In addition, the February holidays are recommended for students of correctional schools, and in some educational institutions even the entire “primary school” can rest in February - from 1 to.

The timing of additional holidays is the most variable, in some regions they are preferred to be held at the beginning of February, and in some - at the end of the month, on the week when Defender of the Fatherland Day is celebrated.

In 2018, the first classes will rest for either a week from 5 to 11 February(this option may be the most common), or from the 17th to the 25th.

School Spring Break Schedule 2018

The date for which spring break is “aspiring” is April 1. In the fourth quarter usually began on this day. In 2018, the first day of April will be Sunday. And in most schools, the rest schedule will be like this:

  • duration - 8-9 days,

  • vacation start– March 24 (Saturday) or March 25 (Sunday);

  • last day of rest- April 1 (Sunday).

In some schools, the schedule may be shifted a week ahead, and students will rest a week later, April 1st to 8th.

Official vacation schedule for Moscow schools: traditional and trimester (modular) modes of study

In the capital, vacation dates for the 2017-2018 academic year are dictated by a special order from the city's Department of Education. It was signed on 03/09/2017.

In accordance with the order in schools where children study on, holidays will be announced:

  • in October- from 1 to 8 number;

  • In November- from 5 to 12 (in fact, children will start resting a day earlier, November 4 is a general day off);

  • on New Year's holidays– from December 31 to January 10;

  • in February– from 18 to 25;

  • in April- from the 8th to the 15th.

In educational institutions of Moscow, working according to the "classical" system four quarters, the following vacation periods will be established:

  • autumn - from October 29 to November 6;

  • winter - from December 31 to January 10;

  • additional February– from 18 to 25 February;

  • spring - from 1 to 8 April.

How to find out the exact vacation dates for a child

Since the final decision on vacation dates is made by the school management, the dates of their start or end in different educational institutions may not coincide with the “average” schedule.

There are several ways to find out the vacation schedule at your school.

  1. Go to the official website of the school. By law, all "calendar" information must be contained there. As a rule, it is located in the "Organization of the educational process" or "Schedule" section.

  2. Look into the child. Vacation schedules may be posted in the announcement or parent information sections. But even if this is not the case, you can try to "scroll" the magazine for the period of the proposed vacation and "calculate" the exact dates - no lessons will be scheduled for them;

  3. Ask your child's class teacher. The schedule is usually approved in the summer, sometimes even earlier. By the time the school “roll calls” are held, teachers usually already have this information.

  4. Call the reception and check the vacation dates with the secretary of the educational institution.

In a day, a child manages to live a whole life filled with adventures, new acquaintances, study, games, research, quarrels and reconciliations. But even the most energetic and successful children need rest. And its proper organization is already the task of adults.

Instruction

Daily regime

For any person, the regime of the day is useful. It helps to eat on time, get enough sleep, work fruitfully and rest. For a child, the mode is useful. Children are not yet able to organize themselves. From complete permissiveness, irregular nutrition and sleep, they get tired very quickly, not only physically, but also emotionally. Naturally, there are situations when the regime has to be violated, for example, travel, illness or. But if this happens occasionally, it only adds colors and emotions to everyday, familiar life.

Best of all, the child restores strength in a dream. And if in infancy, and then in kindergarten, no one disputes the need for daytime sleep, then at school age, parents often dismiss it. However, most pediatricians agree that daytime sleep is very beneficial for a younger student. You don’t need to fill your child’s day with extra activities and circles. Just one pleasant hour in a well-ventilated room will inspire strength in a student who is tired after class. A well-slept, rested and calm student learns knowledge much easier than his nervous and overworked peers.

Leisure

Despite the active promotion of a healthy lifestyle and the introduction of an additional week in schools, the preparation of children leaves much to be desired. Outdoor games, walks in the park and hikes in the forest are also recreation that a growing body needs like air. However, the vast majority of schoolchildren prefer the computer to playing football in the yard. It is necessary to accustom the child to physical exercises from a very early age, literally after he learns to walk. But if you yourself sit in front of the TV for whole evenings, and the offer to take a walk in the evening causes you bewilderment, it is naive to expect success in sports from your child.

Advice 3: How to relax for the New Year 2017: weekends and January holidays

January 1 of the New Year 2017 - Sunday. With this festive day, everything is quite clear. People will traditionally celebrate the New Year with family or friends, and some will sleep off and just relax after a stormy New Year's Eve from 31st to 1st. It is worth noting that according to the eastern calendar, 2017 is the year of the Red Fire Rooster, so bright red shades should be present in festive outfits and jewelry. Astrologers predict that the coming year can be difficult in all plans, so it is important to meet it joyfully, with a positive attitude and faith in the best.

Weekends and January holidays for the New Year 2017 will continue from January 2 to January 8. And again, disputes about the advisability of such a long New Year's vacation still do not subside. Russians of mature age still remember the times when they officially rested only on January 1 and 2. According to surveys, most people have nothing to do after meeting the holiday. In addition, the country's production and economy have been almost completely idle for a whole week, which affects them negatively. The government is discussing the possibility of postponing part of the New Year holidays to the first week of May in order to provide Russians with more comfortable conditions for recreation, but the question is still open.

On January 7, Orthodox Russians will celebrate the great church holiday of the Nativity of Christ. This day is loved by almost all people, including those who have atheistic views. Who does not like to gather at the table with family, relatives and loved ones, congratulate each other and exchange pleasant gifts? In addition, in recent years, Russian folk Christmas traditions have been actively revived, for example, carols, which are very popular with children and young people. Thus, the next long-awaited days off and January holidays will come very soon, and in order for them to become interesting and memorable, it is worth preparing for such an event in advance.

Holidays are the favorite time in the life of every schoolchild or student. Already on September 1, sharing their impressions of the past summer, the guys begin to make plans for the next weeks and months free from school. The vacation schedule allows children and parents to plan their vacation in advance, making it meaningful and interesting.

The academic year will traditionally begin for schoolchildren in 2017 with Knowledge Day, which is celebrated on September 1 and falls on Friday this academic year. Of the 273 days of the 2017-2018 academic year, 167 days the children will have to actively absorb new knowledge. The remaining 106 are allocated for vacations, holidays and weekends. On May 26, 2018, for schoolchildren who do not pass the OGE or the Unified State Examination, a period of summer vacation will begin.

The holiday calendar for students and schoolchildren is annually developed by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, while it is only advisory in nature and may be changed by the decision of the pedagogical council of a particular school. Therefore, the exact vacation schedule for the year must be clarified at the educational institution where your child is studying. The decision of the teachers' council can only increase the number of days off for children. The basis for providing additional free days from study is usually:

  • frosts, at a temperature of -25 ° C, classes at an elementary school are canceled, at -28 ° C, middle classes do not study and at -30 ° C, senior classes;
  • cold in the classrooms, at a temperature below +18 ° C, classes are prohibited inside the classrooms;
  • exceeding the epidemic threshold for diseases and introducing quarantine.

Quarantine can be introduced in the region, city or district by decision of the administration, when making recommendations from the local health department.

Additional holidays are provided for first-graders. This makes it easier for kids to adapt to new conditions. Additional rest for children is usually provided in the middle of the third, longest academic quarter. The decision on the time and amount of additional rest is made by the pedagogical council of the educational institution.

Autumn

After a long summer vacation, it is difficult for children to maintain a tense learning rhythm for a long time. Autumn holidays allow you to relax a little and take a break. In many regions, autumn rest falls on the last days of the "golden autumn". This academic year, the holidays will last from October 30 to November 7. For 9 days you can have time to get a lot of bright autumn impressions.

Winter

January holidays for every child is a period of waiting for a miracle and a little New Year's fairy tale. A smart Christmas tree, funny sledding and ice skating, Christmas gifts or a trip with parents from a snowy winter to a bright summer, every schoolchild will find something interesting for himself on free winter days. A lot can be done in 14-16 days. Winter holidays will start on December 28, 2017 and end on January 10, then the longest academic term will begin. Depending on the school, the rest may be a little earlier, for example, from 12/23/17 to 01/08/18, or vice versa later.

Contrary to rumors, the New Year holidays in 2018 will not be canceled.

Spring

Many schoolchildren look forward to spring break with special impatience. Behind the winter and most of the school year. The bright spring sun is already warming. A little more and the long-awaited summer will come. Spring break is scheduled from March 24 to April 1, 2018. 9 days of spring rest will allow you to gain strength for the successful completion of the school year.

Summer

The last bell marks the end of school for graduates, and for everyone else it is the signal for the start of the longest and most exciting period of summer vacation. They will start on May 28 and end on August 31. Schoolchildren who graduated from the 9th grade go to rest at the end of June. On September 1, tanned matured students will return to schools to continue their studies.

This schedule is relevant for schools teaching children in quarters.

Holidays in schools with a trimester period of study

In modular schools, the lesson plan is divided into trimesters (three parts per year, instead of four), a 5-week study period alternates with a week of rest. Winter and summer holidays in these educational institutions are held according to the usual schedule for all children. Recent studies show that such a schedule is optimal for children.

Holidays

The days of public holidays, on which the entire population of the country rests, are determined by the decision of the State Duma. Some of them give schoolchildren extra days off, for example, on February 23 and March 8, others fall during the school holidays.

Student holidays

With vacations, students are getting sadder: students are not provided with autumn and spring holidays. Each university determines the period of beginning and end of study sessions independently. Usually, winter student holidays take place in late January or early February, and summer holidays begin in July. Sometimes the summer vacation time of students is reduced, after passing the required tests with exams, future specialists go to practice.

Holidays are a welcome time for children and a period of heightened excitement for parents. Try to plan the child’s vacation so that he is not left to himself, find an interesting activity for the child for the rest period, send him to a health camp, arrange a sports section, a camp at a school or a circle.

A child, and especially a teenager who does not know what to do with himself, can easily get into an unpleasant situation. Teach your child to make good use of their free time. And remember, no matter how many correct words you say, a personal example has the strongest impact on a child.

All responsibility for the safety of the child during the holidays rests with the parents. Do not overload your child with extra activities. Think back to your childhood! Try to give your child the opportunity to get new experiences, because they are the brightest in childhood!
